The Internet has now become a basic need for people nowadays. After the introduction of 4th generation network, people from many parts of the world are enjoying high-speed internet by live streaming HD videos, live video chatting, less lagging activities and much more. Still, sometimes when the talk is about like 4k video streaming, 360 degrees VR live streaming, instant cloud storage, ultra Hi-Fi music & movies online streaming or some other VR related live streams etc. it is seen that even the 4th generation network also doesn’t come up to our expectations. 4G simply cannot deliver an uninterrupted, lag-free experience. That’s why to take telecommunication network to a new era of lightning-fast and a low latency connectivity 5th generation network is being proposed for solving the problems that cannot be solved by 4th generation network. It is going under testing process and expected to be available between the year 2020 to 2022. But before the availability of 5th generation network some devices are launched by several companies that support 5g internet connectivity. So this post is about world’s first 5g supported smartphone which can clock 1 Gbps downloading speed.
ZTE Gigabit Phone
ZTE Gigabit Phone was launched by Chinese telecoms giant ZTE on 26th of February 2017 at Mobile World Congress, the world’s biggest mobile fair in Barcelona located in northeastern Spain. ZTE claimed that it is the world’s first 5th generation network supported smartphone which is capable of downloading at the speed of 1-gigabit per second (Gbps) upto 10 times faster than the 4th generation internet services available today. The company showed live demos of their Gigabit phone handling up to 1 Gbps speed at the Expo. This smartphone has the capacity to hold all the available 4G bands and bundles them for carrier aggregation that’s why it is called Gigabit. It can provide instant cloud storage, 360-degree panoramic Virtual Reality video streaming and fast downloads of ultra Hi-Fi music and videos etc. through its Gigabit speed. While talking with the press a ZTE spokesperson said that:-
With the new device, the way people stay connected will be changed forever. Focusing on 5Gtechnologies will be one of the key priorities of ZTE’s global development. ZTE will be very glad to leverage its technology strength and experience in 5G to cooperate with government and business partners to discuss and facilitate the upcoming 5G era.
Features and Specifications
The ZTE’s Gigabit smartphone has a 16-megapixel primary camera with phase detection Geo Tagging, LED Flash, Auto Focus, and an 8 MP front shooter secondary camera. The phone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and houses 32GB ROM which can be expandable to 128 GB. ZTE may also provide Android Oreo 8.0 update or it can also come with latest Android Oreo 8.0 pre-booted very soon. It is powered by 3000 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery and has a rear-mounted Fingerprint Sensor. However, the battery doesn’t support quick charging. The processor given in it is Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC Octa-core processor which is built on Kryo, Kryo Cortex A72 architecture, its processor has 2.45GHz speed. Moreover, the phone comes with the latest high-end Adreno 540 Graphics Processing Unit and 3 GB RAM which both works for good performance and gaming. The mobile platform has integrated Snapdragon X16 LTE modem, utilizes a combination of carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO antenna technology, and 256-QAM modulation to achieve LTE download speeds that are up to 10x faster than first generation LTE devices. Normally it supports Dual SIM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 2g,3g,4g is enabled as usual. Apart from all the features and specifications, the main eye-catching thing is that it is world’s first smartphone that is 5g connectivity enabled with the help of which one can download data at 1Gbps speed. This phone also comes with unlimited cloud storage.
With the launch of this Gigabit Phone, the ZTE company has started an era of innovative 5th generation connectivity which was proposed to be tested or launched first on 2018 Winter Olympics South Korea by Samsung and KT company. Though this Gigabit smartphone cannot be used to its full potential due to the absence of 5g networks currently, it supports all types of 4g or broadband standards available. After the days will pass more and more companies will launch their smartphone that will be 5g enabled. It won’t just make the internet feel fast, but will also improve battery life and reduce latency—more on that later.
